With 30 years of teaching experience, a NM Level 2 Art Teaching license, 10 years of experience as the founder and executive director of the Tarnoff Art Center(a 501c3) based here in the Santa fe area, and the current co-owner of Artful Soul Creative Experiences in Downtown Santa Fe, Laura brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her classes. As she is dedicated to guiding students on their artistic journey .
Laura graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago, where she underwent a rigorous academic art education. Her disciplined training included studying the human figure and mastering various traditional art mediums such as pastels, oil painting, watercolors, pen and ink, and much more.
Laura's own artwork is a testament to her vibrant and painterly style, ranging from tight realism to wild non-objective abstractions. Known for her "Figurative Abstractions," Laura infuses her work with emotionally charged colors, figurative distortions, and expressive brushstrokes.

Q: Is there an age limit for the Magic on Canvas class? Can my kids join?

A: The Magic on Canvas class at Artful Soul is perfect for all ages! Laura is great at adapting the class to different skill levels, so your kids will definitely have fun. Just be sure to supervise younger ones, as some materials can be messy. It's a great family bonding experience!

Q: What should I wear to the class? Does it get messy?

A: Definitely wear something you don't mind getting paint on! The class can get a little messy, but Laura provides smocks, so you can protect your clothes. Just in case, I'd recommend old jeans and a t-shirt. You'll have a blast creating without worrying about your outfit.

Q: If I need to reschedule, how does that work? Are they flexible?

A: Artful Soul is pretty understanding about rescheduling. They ask for at least 48 hours notice, and then you can just pick another date that works for you. It's really helpful if plans change last minute. Just reach out to Laura directly, and she’ll get you sorted.
