Explore the wines and meads of Maine! Take your tastebuds on a trip around the state and explore the wide variety of wines made right here in our state - including those made with imported grapes, those made with cold-hardy grapes grown in Maine, and those made from ingredients that aren't grapes at all! Participants will be introduced to six Maine-made wines and meads from six different producers - and hear the stories behind the wineries that brought them to your glass. This guided, 30-minute experience is a fantastic introduction to Maine's wine landscape and history. We recommend scheduling this class at the beginning of your time in Maine so you can take advantage of all you've learned during the rest of your trip. Stick around afterwards for personalized recommendations from your MTC host about wineries, breweries, markets, farms and other agritourism experiences to seek out while in Maine - customized to your interests and the regions you plan to visit while in Maine.

Q&A

Q: Is there a specific dress code for the wine and mead tasting?

A: There's no strict dress code, but I’d recommend something casual yet nice. It’s in a tasting room so you want to be comfy but maybe leave the flip-flops at home. Also, if you're planning to visit any wineries after, you might want to be a little more presentable.

Q: Are there age restrictions for this tasting? Can my 19-year-old join us?

A: Yes, the tastings are strictly for ages 21 and up, so your 19-year-old won’t be able to participate. If they want to join, they can still hang out in the area, but it’s definitely adult-only when it comes to the tasting itself.

Q: What if the weather is bad on the day we booked? Can we reschedule?

A: You can definitely reschedule if the weather isn't cooperating! Just give them a heads up as soon as you can. They’re pretty flexible, especially since the tasting is part of a local experience. Just make sure to check their policy when you book.

Thinking about gifting the Maine Wine and Mead Tasting!

Hey everyone! I'm considering gifting the Maine Wine and Mead Tasting in Wiscasset for my parents' anniversary. They love trying new wines, and I think it’d be a cool way for them to explore local flavors. Has anyone done this? What was the vibe like? Any tips for making it special?

Just got back from the Maine Wine and Mead Tasting!

OMG, we just did the tasting in Wiscasset and it was awesome! We tried six different wines and meads, ranging from sweet to dry, and I learned so much about Maine's wine scene. Plus, the personalized recommendations afterwards were a game changer! Highly recommend it as an intro to local wines.
