Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for kids on this hike? My son is 10 and loves nature!

A: There isn't a strict age limit, but kids should be able to handle about 4.5 miles of hiking. Some parents bring kids as young as 8, but it really depends on their stamina. Just be sure they have good shoes and plenty of water!

Q: What happens if the weather is bad? Do they cancel?

A: If the weather is unsafe, they usually reschedule. You’ll get a notice ahead of time, and the guide will assess conditions before heading out. It’s always good to check the forecast a few days in advance!

Q: What should I wear for this hike? Is it casual?

A: Definitely wear comfy clothes! Breathable fabrics are key since it's warm. Good hiking shoes are a must because the trail can be rocky. Also, don’t forget your swimsuit for the beach and maybe a light jacket for the fresh water spring at the end!

Just booked the Makalawena Hike and Swim — so excited!

I just booked this experience for my partner's birthday! We love hiking and beach days, and I've heard this one is a gem. I’m curious though, how tough is the trail? I don’t want it to be too strenuous. And any tips on what to bring?

Makalawena Hike was AMAZING!

I just did this hike with Christian, and it was such a blast! The views from Puʻu Kuʻili were jaw-dropping. And the beach at Makalawena? Wow! We even found the hidden spring afterward. It felt like a secret paradise. Highly recommend! Just bring good shoes and a camera!
