Q&A
A: Yes, kids as young as 8 can participate in the Stand Up Paddle 101 class! They just need to be able to swim a little. It's a really fun family activity, and the instructors are great with kids. Just make sure they wear life jackets, which are provided. If your child is under 12, I’d recommend having an adult paddle alongside them.
A: If the weather doesn’t cooperate, South Pacific Kayaks will usually reschedule your session. They keep a close eye on conditions and will contact you to arrange a new time. Just be sure to check your email leading up to your experience!
A: Parking is usually pretty straightforward at Kalama Park. There’s a big parking lot right by the beach, and it's free! Just make sure to arrive a little early to find a spot, especially if you're going on a weekend.

Looking for a fun family activity in Maui: SUP at Kalama Park!
Hey everyone! I’m thinking of gifting the Maui Stand Up Paddling 101 experience for my family’s trip next month. I’ve heard the instructors are super friendly and help you spot turtles and maybe even whales! Is it really beginner-friendly? I’ve never done SUP before, and I don’t want to struggle the whole time. Any tips for a first-timer?
Experience of a Lifetime: SUP in Maui!
Just got back from the Stand Up Paddling 101 at Kalama Park! Wow, what an awesome experience. The warm waters were perfect, and we saw a ton of fish and even a sea turtle! The only downside was I wish we had more time on the water. Definitely a must-do for any family visiting Maui!
