Q&A
A: Definitely dress in layers! Even in summer, it can get chilly at the glacier, especially with the wind. I'd recommend a waterproof jacket, good hiking shoes, and maybe a light hat. You’ll be out walking for two hours, so comfort is key! Also, don’t forget your camera for those epic views!
A: Absolutely! The Mendenhall Glacier Express is great for families. There’s no specific age limit, and the walking trails are pretty easy, so kids will have fun exploring. Just keep an eye on them near the water and cliffs. It’s a cool way to introduce them to nature!
A: Parking can be a bit tricky since it's at the cruise terminal. But if you're taking the bus from downtown, you won’t need to worry about parking. Just show up at the designated spot and you’re good to go! If you drive, there are some paid lots nearby, but I suggest using the bus service for convenience.

Just got back from the Mendenhall Glacier Express! Wow!
I took the Mendenhall Glacier Express last week while on a cruise in Juneau and it was amazing! The bus ride was super scenic and our guide provided some great info about the area. Once we got to the glacier, I spent the whole two hours just taking pictures and enjoying the trails. Definitely wear sturdy shoes and bring a jacket! It can get windy by the lake. Highly recommend this as a gift for anyone who loves nature!
Thinking about gifting the Mendenhall Glacier Express to my parents – worth it?
I'm considering getting my parents this experience for their anniversary. They love the outdoors but aren't super fit. Does anyone know if it's easy to navigate the trails at the glacier? Also, should I add in something else or is this enough?
