Q&A
A: Late spring to early fall is the best time for the Mendenhall Glacier Trolley Tour. Specifically, June to August has the warmest weather and the most sunlight, which makes the glacier views stunning. Just keep an eye on the weather forecast as it can be unpredictable, and definitely dress in layers. Bring a rain jacket just in case!
A: You get about 2 hours at the Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area, which is plenty of time to explore the visitor center and hike some of the trails. The trails range from easy to moderate, so you can pick one based on your group's ability. Just be sure to keep an eye on the time so you don’t miss your ride back!
A: No specific age limit, so kids are welcome! The tour is generally family-friendly, but keep in mind that some trails can be a bit steep. It's a great experience for kids, especially if they enjoy nature and learning about glaciers. Just make sure to keep them close, as some areas near the glacier can be slippery.

Just got back from the Mendenhall Glacier Trolley Tour - wow!
We did the Mendenhall Glacier Trolley Tour last week while on a cruise, and it was amazing! The 30-minute ride to the glacier was super informative, and our guide was really fun. We had about 2 hours to hike and explore, which was perfect! The visitor center had some cool exhibits, and the views of the glacier were straight out of a postcard. Totally recommend it for anyone visiting Juneau!
Thinking about gifting the Mendenhall Glacier Trolley Tour!
I’m looking for the perfect gift for my parents who are going on a cruise to Alaska. The Mendenhall Glacier Trolley Tour seems like a great option! I love that it includes some hiking and exploring time, but I’m nervous if it’ll be challenging for them. Any advice on how strenuous it is?
