Join us for Whale Watching in our cool Alaskan waters and then view one of 38 glaciers from the Juneau Ice Fields - the spectacular Mendenhall Glacier. We guide you on a 2 hour whale watching tour, spotting Humpback whales and other wildlife. Then off to the Mendenhall Glacier to spend some time hiking, watching fish spawn at Steep Creek or enjoy an outstanding view from the Visitor Center. You get 1.5 hours at the park, but don't worry! That is the perfect amount of time to walk to nugget falls and take in the displays at the visitor center.

Q&A

Q: Is there a weight limit for the whale watching boat?

A: There's generally no strict weight limit for the whale watching boat, but it's good to check with Juneau Tours directly for their specific policies. They usually accommodate everyone comfortably. Just be sure to wear appropriate clothing, as it can get chilly out on the water!

Q: How much time do we actually get at Mendenhall Glacier?

A: You get about 1.5 hours at the Mendenhall Glacier, which is plenty of time to hike to Nugget Falls and explore the Visitor Center. It’s an amazing spot for photos, and the views are breathtaking! Just plan your visit accordingly, especially if you want to do some hiking.

Q: What's the best time of year for whale watching in Juneau?

A: The best time for whale watching in Juneau is from May to September. This is when Humpback whales are most active. I went in late June and saw tons of them! Plus, the weather is usually pretty pleasant around that time.

Thinking about gifting the Whale Watch and Mendenhall Glacier combo! Anyone done it?

I'm considering getting this experience for my parents. They've never been to Alaska, and the combo sounds awesome! I read that the whale watching tour is about 2 hours, and then 1.5 hours at the glacier, which feels like a good balance. Is the hike to Nugget Falls kid-friendly? I just want to make sure it'll be enjoyable for them.

Just went on the Whale Watch & Glacier tour - WOW!

I just got back from this tour, and it was absolutely incredible! The whale watching part was the highlight - we saw several humpbacks and even a mother and calf! The Mendenhall Glacier was just as stunning. We had enough time to hike to Nugget Falls, and the visitor center was informative. Totally worth it if you're in Juneau!
