Although we are the original whale-watching company in Juneau (operating since 1994), we are still small and family-owned and operated! We want you to feel like part of the family, and we pride ourselves on prioritizing local hires in order to give back to our community and give you the best possible tour experience. We want our guides to love Juneau as much as you do! This tour offers an additional hour at the Mendenhall Glacier Recreation Area. This gives you an hour and forty-five minutes to two hours to look at salmon, visit the Visitor's Center, and make the hike to Nugget Falls! Our fleet consists of only mammal-friendly jet boats, and the small size and intimate setting will make you feel right at home with the whales. We pride ourselves on our quick transfers between vehicles! We don't want you to wait any longer than you absolutely have to!

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for the whale watching tour, and how strenuous is the hike to Nugget Falls?

A: There isn't a strict age limit for the tour, but kids should be old enough to enjoy the boat ride. The hike to Nugget Falls is pretty easy, just a well-maintained trail, so it's suitable for families. Just make sure to dress accordingly, especially if it's a bit chilly or rainy!

Q: What should I wear for the whale watching part? Is it cold on the water?

A: Definitely dress in layers! It can get chilly on the water, even in summer. A waterproof jacket is a must, and don't forget a hat and sunglasses. You might be on the boat for a while, so comfort is key!

Q: How's the parking situation in Juneau for this tour? Is it easy to find?

A: Parking can be a bit tricky during peak season, but there are designated lots near the docks. Just give yourself some extra time to find a spot and walk to the departure area. Ride-sharing services are also a good option if you're worried about parking!

Just got back from the Mendenhall Glacier and Whale Watching Tour! 🤩

Wow, what an experience! The whale watching was amazing — we saw three humpbacks! The guides really made it feel personal. Plus, the extra time at Mendenhall Glacier was perfect for photos and exploring Nugget Falls. Definitely recommend bringing a good camera! Oh, and the snacks were tasty. Anyone else gone recently?

Considering this tour as a birthday gift - any tips?

I'm looking to surprise my sister with the Mendenhall Glacier Waterfall and Whale Watching Tour for her birthday next month. She's a huge nature person! Any tips on what to expect or how to make the day even more special for her?
