The middle Kenai River flows out of the glacial waters of Skilak Lake in the heart of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, home to a large variety of Alaskan wildlife. We use an outboard motor to cross Skilak Lake and to run back upstream to fish the most productive spots. This stretch of river can produce excellent trophy Kenai River trout and Dolly Varden char and seasonal runs of salmon. Daily guided drift boat fly fishing and spin fishing trips are available for all ages and skill levels.

Q&A

Q: What age range is this fishing trip suitable for? Can kids join?

A: This trip is great for all ages! Kids can definitely join, but it’s best to make sure they’re old enough to handle being on a boat for a full day. The guides are super patient and experienced with younger anglers, so it should be a fun day for everyone. Just check weather and safety policies before you go!

Q: Is there a cancellation policy if the weather's bad?

A: Yes, they have a pretty flexible cancellation policy! If the weather doesn’t cooperate, you can reschedule without a fee. They usually decide on the day if it’s safe to go out, so it’s good to have a couple of backup dates in mind.

Q: How do I get to the launch point? Is parking available?

A: Getting to the launch point is pretty straightforward! There’s ample parking available near the guide's office in Soldotna. They’ll give you directions when you book. Just arrive a bit early so you can get set up and meet the guide. Trust me, you don’t want to miss out on any fishing time!

Looking at this fishing trip in Soldotna for my husband’s birthday. He loves fishing but hasn't tried fly fishing yet. I saw that it includes gear, guides, and even tackle. Sounds like a full day of fun! Anyone done this before? Is it worth it? Any tips for a newbie?

Any recommendations for what to wear on the fishing trip?

I’m planning to go on the Middle Kenai River Fishing Trip next month and I'm not sure what to wear. Should I go with layers? What about footwear? I don't wanna be cold or wet! Any advice?
