Portland’s historic Mississippi District is home to killer live music venues, eclectic shops, and some of the best restaurants, bars and food carts in any city – especially if you know what to look for. On our walking food tour of Mississippi Avenue, that’s exactly what I’ll show you! Some of the delicious food and drinks we'll sample: - Perfectly cooked egg sandwiches on fresh-baked sourdough. - Locally roasted coffee or craft cocktail (or coffee cocktail!). - Mouth-watering cake & brioche donuts with seasonal ingredients. - Deliciously authentic cubanos and sweet plantains with mojitos. - Melt-in-your-mouth brisket & more from the West Coast’s #1 BBQ spot. Come hungry, thirsty, and curious! The food is the star of this tour, but you’ll also learn about historic Mississippi Ave and the city of Portland. This neighborhood is weird and wonderful, and I’ll share some of the most interesting tidbits along the way.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for the walking food tour?

A: There’s no strict age limit! However, it’s more enjoyable for those who can walk a few blocks and appreciate the food and history. Kids are welcome, but you might want to consider their interest in the food. Just be aware that some stops do serve alcohol, so keep that in mind if you’re bringing younger ones.

Q: What do I wear for the Mississippi Avenue tour?

A: Comfort is key! Wear good walking shoes since you’ll be on your feet for a while. Dress in layers, as Portland's weather can change quickly. A light jacket is great for cooler mornings or breezy afternoons, plus you’ll want to save room for all the yummy food!

Q: What if the weather is bad on the day of the tour?

A: They usually run rain or shine, but you can reschedule if it’s really bad weather. Just shoot Daniel a message at least a day in advance, and he’s super flexible. It’s good to check the forecast ahead of time so you’re prepared!

Thinking of gifting the Mississippi Avenue Walking Food Tour!

I’m planning to gift this walking food tour to my sister who’s visiting Portland! She loves trying new foods. The tour includes stops for brunch favorites like egg sandwiches and even BBQ, which I know she’ll love. Just wondering if anyone has tips on the best way to reserve or what to expect!

Just returned from the Mississippi Avenue Food Tour!

OMG, I just did the Mississippi Avenue food tour and it was amazing! We had everything from cubanos to brisket. Daniel was an awesome guide, super knowledgeable about Portland. The cake donuts were a highlight for sure! Highly recommend for anyone visiting or even locals looking for something fun to do.
