This paddling trip offers a quick teaser of the scenic beauty and easy rapids of Castle Valley! Our half-day trips give you about 2 hours on the water to take in the incredible beauty of this sandstone paradise. Meet at the Mild to Wild office to check in and get ready for the river! Your guides will get you fitted for a PFD (aka life jacket) and then hop on the shuttle for a scenic 40 minute drive out to Castle Valley. Once there, we’ll have a safety orientation and some paddling instruction before you push off with the fleet for the next couple hours. Kayaking trips float with the rafting trips, and the guides will give you instruction as you paddle along. The kayaks move much faster than the rafts, so on occasion you may have to wait up for them. More time to take in the scenery, we say! This is a very mild rafting trip, with mostly calm flat water with a couple rapid sections sprinkled in along the way.

Q&A

Q: What’s the age limit for this kayaking trip? Can kids join too?

A: The Moab Half Day Kayaking Trip is great for families! Kids as young as 5 can join, but they should be comfortable in the water. Just make sure they’re at least 40 lbs to fit safely in the life jackets. Always a good idea to check with the provider ahead of time if you've got younger kids, though!

Q: What if the weather is bad on the day we booked?

A: If the weather isn't cooperating on your booked day, they’ll usually give you the option to reschedule. Safety is their priority, so if conditions are too rough, they'll take care of it. Just call Mild to Wild to check on the cancellation policy and see what your options are!

Q: How difficult is the kayaking? I’m a total newbie.

A: You’ll be fine! The kayaking is pretty mild and mostly calm waters with just a few easy rapids. The guides will give you all the instructions you need. It’s designed for beginners and anyone looking for a chill time on the water. Just enjoy the scenery!

I’m heading to Moab next month and just booked the Half Day Kayaking Trip on the Colorado River! I’m so pumped but also a bit nervous since I'm not a strong swimmer. What should I wear? Any tips for first-timers? I just want to soak in all that stunning scenery and not embarrass myself!

Moab Kayaking Experience - Is it Gift Worthy?

I’m considering getting this kayaking trip for my partner’s birthday. He loves the outdoors but has never kayaked before. Is it a good gift or too much for a newbie? What’s the vibe like on the water?
