Experience the enchantment of Monument Valley, immerse yourself in the Navajo culture and spend a night in a traditional Navajo Hogan. The traditional Hogan Overnight experience is a tour package that includes various activities. It starts with a 2.5 hour evening tour through the iconic landscape of Monument Valley and allows you to explore backcountry routes and restricted areas. After the evening tour a traditional Navajo dinner will await you deep in the valley close to Rain God Mesa followed by a special entertainment program during which you can enjoy some tradition dancing, chanting, drumming and storytelling while sitting around a campfire. You will then spend the night in a traditional Navajo Hogan. The next morning our Navajo guide will take you on another tour to witness the beautiful sunset over Monument Valley. The tour will conclude with a continental style breakfast.

Q&A

Q: What's the age limit for kids on this experience?

A: There's really no strict age limit, but I'd say it’s best for kids 8 and older since it involves some hiking and staying overnight. The guides are great with kids, and they have fun stories to share. Just be sure your kids are ready for an outdoor adventure!

Q: What should we wear? Is it cold at night?

A: Definitely layer up! Even in summer, the nights can get pretty chilly in Monument Valley. Wear comfortable clothes for the tours, and bring warm layers for the evening in the Hogan. I recommend sturdy shoes for walking on rocky paths, too.

Q: Can this be rescheduled if the weather’s bad?

A: Yes! They’re really accommodating when it comes to rescheduling due to weather. Just reach out to Simpson's Trailhandler Tours as soon as you know, and they’ll work with you to find a new date that fits.

Just got back from the Hogan overnight experience! Amazing!

I did the Monument Valley Hogan Overnight Experience last week and it was unreal! The evening tour was breathtaking, especially when we went into the backcountry and saw all these hidden spots. Dinner was so good—traditional Navajo stew and bread. The live entertainment was so much fun, especially the drumming! Sleeping in the Hogan was cozy, but bring a warm sleeping bag! Can't recommend this enough!

Considering gifting the Hogan overnight experience!

I’m looking to gift this experience to my partner for our anniversary. We love outdoor adventures! Just wondering if anyone has tips on the best time to go or any must-haves for the trip? I want to make it super special!
