Q&A

Q: What's the difficulty level of the Mount Marathon hike? Is it suitable for beginners?

A: The Mount Marathon hike is definitely on the more challenging side, especially the Jeep Trail. It has steep sections that may be tough for beginners, but if you're in decent shape and ready for a workout, it's definitely doable! The guide is super helpful and will pace the group according to everyone's ability, so don't be too worried if you're new to hiking.

Q: Can this hike be done in the rain? What if the weather is bad?

A: Yes, you can still do the hike in light rain, but if the weather is really bad or there's a chance of storms, they may reschedule for safety reasons. It's always best to check with the guide the day before to confirm conditions and make sure you’re prepared with the right gear.

Q: What should I wear for the Mount Marathon hike? Any specific gear needed?

A: Definitely wear sturdy hiking shoes or boots since the trail can be rocky and steep. Dress in layers too—it's cooler up there! A good idea is to bring a light jacket and maybe a hat. The guide provides hiking poles and snacks, but it wouldn't hurt to have some extra water and a small pack.

Thinking about booking the Seward Guided Hike for my dad's birthday!

I’m considering the Mount Marathon Bowl hike as a surprise for my dad who loves the outdoors. I think the views of Resurrection Bay would blow him away! The fact that it's led by a local guide who knows the history of the race is a huge plus. Just wondering if anyone has done this recently and what their thoughts were? Any tips?
