Q&A
A: Honestly, spring and fall are the best times! The weather's usually mild, and the gardens at Mount Vernon are in full bloom in April and May, plus the fall colors are beautiful in October. Summer can get really hot and crowded, especially on weekends. Just keep an eye on the forecast and plan accordingly!
A: Absolutely! This trip is great for families. There are no strict age limits, and kids will find the historical aspects fascinating. Just keep in mind that some of the historical talks might be a bit long for younger ones, but there's plenty of space to explore, which they usually love.
A: You typically get about 1.5 to 2 hours after the guided tour to explore the estate at your own pace. There's a lot to see, including the museum, the gardens, and the farm area. It’s enough time, but I’d recommend planning what you want to see beforehand so you don’t miss out!

Just did the Mount Vernon trip – here’s my take!
I went on the Mount Vernon and Old Town Alexandria tour last week and it was amazing! The bus ride was comfy, and our guide was super knowledgeable. I loved the mansion tour; seeing George Washington's home in person was surreal. The grounds are gorgeous, and we had a nice amount of free time to wander around after the guided part. Old Town Alexandria was cute too. Definitely recommend it!
Thinking about giving the Mount Vernon trip as a gift, any thoughts?
I’m considering buying this Mount Vernon and Old Town Alexandria trip for my parents. They love history and have never been to Mount Vernon. Is it worth it? What would they get out of it? Anyone have experience?
