At Mt Rushmore we spend 2 hours touring the famous attractions, movie, museum and gift shop. We arrive at Crazy Horse and explore the huge museum with 14,000 pieces of Native American art. There is a wonderful 20 movie about the history of the carving . . . and the famous family who made this all come to life. You will have time to explore the museum and spend time in the gift shop. Also included is a drive along Iron Mtn Road with a stop at Norbeck Overlook and several one way tunnels. On our return to Deadwood, we tour the 'bad boy' town of Hill City. Once a town of noted violence and debauchery . . . it is now our most 'artsy' location with local artists, a famous dinosaur museum and local wineries.

Q: Is there an age limit for kids on this tour?

A: There's no strict age limit! Kids are totally welcome, and the tour is designed to be fun for all ages. Just keep in mind, the hike at Sylvan Lake might be tricky for little ones depending on their stamina. It’s great for families, but I’d recommend bringing a carrier for younger kids.

Q: What should we wear? Is the weather unpredictable?

A: Definitely wear layers! The weather in South Dakota can change quickly, especially in the mountains. You'll want a light jacket for the cooler parts of the day, but it can get hot, too. Also, good walking shoes are a must for the trails around Sylvan Lake.

Q: How's the parking situation at Mt. Rushmore?

A: Parking can get crowded, especially in peak season. But there's plenty of space! It’s $10 for the day, and you can park right near the entrance, which makes it super convenient. Just plan to arrive early in the day to snag a good spot!

Just got back from the Mt. Rushmore & Crazy Horse tour!

I took this tour last week, and it was AMAZING! The 2 hours at Mt. Rushmore were packed with info and the views were stunning. Crazy Horse's museum was my favorite part, so much art and history. And the stop at Norbeck Overlook was breathtaking! Definitely bring your camera. Oh, and the snacks they provided were a nice touch! Perfect gift for anyone who loves nature and history.
