Join a certified naturalist on a 2-hour nature boat tour throughout Charleston's waterways. The small group will discover Charleston's abundant coastal wildlife, while cruising Charleston Harbor as well as landing on Morris Island where you will be able to explore on foot and look for shells and hopefully, find some shark's teeth. On the excursion, get a glimpse of Bottlenose dolphins and pull your crab pots to see how many crabs you caught that day. You will also see the amazing picturesque views of the skyline of Charleston and the Atlantic Ocean.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for the nature boat tour in Charleston?

A: There's no strict age limit for the tour, but it's tailored more for ages 5 and up. The naturalist does a great job engaging with kids, so it's definitely family-friendly. Just keep in mind that younger kids might need a little help, especially on Morris Island where you’ll be shelling and walking around.

Q: What happens if the weather is bad on the day of the tour?

A: If the weather is too bad, they’ll usually reschedule to a later date. They’re pretty good about contacting you if there’s a concern, so just keep your phone handy. It’s a good idea to check the forecast ahead of time and call them if you have doubts.

Q: What should we wear for the nature boat tour?

A: Dress comfortably! Lightweight, quick-dry clothes are best, especially since you'll be getting on and off the boat. Don’t forget a hat and sunscreen. Also, wear sturdy shoes for walking on Morris Island. Flip-flops are a bad idea because of the shells!

Anyone else as excited for the nature boat tour in Charleston?

I just booked the Nature Boat Tour with Sandlapper for my family and I can’t wait! We're looking forward to seeing dolphins and scavenging for shark teeth on Morris Island. Has anyone done this recently? What did you think? Any tips for us first-timers?

How's the shelling on Morris Island during the tour?

Thinking about getting this as a gift for my sister and her kids. Are the shells easy to find? She's really into beachcombing. Any experiences to share would help me decide!
