We are an all-women, non-profit volunteer group that live and work in Sitka. Since 1969 the New Archangel Dancers have promoted Alaska as a visitor destination by sharing their knowledge of Sitka's Russian History and their pride in Alaska. The Dancers' success and notoriety have been enhanced by regular guest performances at the opening of new Alaska Airlines terminals, at Alaska Governors' inaugural celebrations, and at various dance festivals, tourism trade shows, conferences, and public events. In addition to performing throughout the "lower 48," the dancers have performed to enthusiastic audiences in Hawaii, Japan, Russia, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for kids? Can my 7-year-old join?

A: There's no official age limit for the show, and kids are definitely welcome! The performances are vibrant and engaging for all ages. Just keep in mind that younger kids might need help with attention spans, but my 8-year-old loved it. It’s family-friendly and a great way to introduce kids to Russian and Ukrainian culture.

Q: What should we wear for the show? Is it casual or more formal?

A: It's pretty casual, so no need for anything fancy. I wore jeans and a nice top, and that was perfect! The dancers are in beautiful traditional costumes, but audience members dress comfortably. Just check the weather for Sitka, as it can get a bit chilly in the evenings.

Q: How do I get tickets? Is it free or do we need to reserve ahead?

A: The show is actually free, which is awesome! You don't need to reserve tickets, but I recommend getting there early to grab a good seat since it can get crowded during peak tourist seasons. Just confirm the schedule ahead of time on their website.

Thinking about gifting the New Archangel Dancers show!

I’m considering giving my parents tickets to the New Archangel Dancers show in Sitka. They’ve been wanting to learn more about Russian culture, and this seems like a perfect fit! I love that it’s free and I hear the performances are really lively. Has anyone else seen it? What was your favorite part?

Just got back from the New Archangel Dancers performance!

Wow, just wow! I took my family to the New Archangel Dancers show, and it was amazing. The energy in the room was electric! The dancers are so talented and passionate about their culture. If you're visiting Sitka, this is a must-see. And best part? It's free! Just don’t forget to dress warm since the venue can be chilly.
