Join us for an unforgettable evening as we take you up close to Kona’s incredible manta rays—without the big crowds. Our Night Manta Snorkel is designed to be personal, relaxed, and unforgettable. With just 12 guests max, you’ll enjoy plenty of space, personalized attention, and unbeatable front-row views of the manta action. Once in the water, you’ll float effortlessly on the surface for 30–40 minutes while holding onto our custom light board. Its powerful lights attract plankton, which in turn draws the mantas in close. Before long, you’ll be watching these graceful giants glide and loop below you—an encounter you’ll never forget. Requirements: To join, you must be comfortable in the water and able to float on the surface with the assistance of a waist flotation device. You don’t need to be an expert swimmer, but you should feel confident using a mask and snorkel.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for the Night Manta Ray Snorkel experience?

A: Yes, kids as young as 5 can participate, but they need to feel comfortable in the water. If you're planning to take younger kids, just make sure they can use a mask and snorkel confidently. Adults might need to supervise, especially if they’re not strong swimmers. Just call Ocean Eco Tours to confirm any specifics if you’re unsure!

Q: How does the weather affect the snorkeling experience?

A: Weather can definitely affect visibility and safety, but Ocean Eco Tours does a good job of monitoring conditions. If it’s too rough, they’ll usually reschedule you. If you’re worried about rain, keep in mind it can actually enhance visibility since it brings nutrients to the water!

Q: What should I wear for the Night Manta Ray Snorkel?

A: You should wear a swimsuit under a wetsuit, which Ocean Eco Tours provides. It can get a bit chilly once you're in the water at night, so a light jacket or cover-up for before/after is a good idea. Just make sure to bring a towel too!

Just booked the Night Manta Ray Snorkel - Any tips?

Hey everyone! I just booked the Night Manta Ray Snorkel with Ocean Eco Tours for next month! So excited but also a bit nervous. I've snorkeled before but never at night. What should I be prepared for? Also, any tips for taking pictures while swimming with the mantas?

Night Manta Ray Snorkel - A Must-Do in Hawaii!

I went on the Night Manta Ray Snorkel last week, and wow, it was incredible! Floating on the surface with the lights attracting the mantas was something else. We only had 10 people on our tour, so it felt really personal. Definitely recommend this for anyone visiting the Big Island – just make sure you’re comfortable in the water!
