Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for kids to participate in the paddleboard lesson?

A: There’s no strict age limit, but they typically recommend kids be at least 8 years old for the lessons. The instructors know how to work with younger ones too, so if you have a younger child who’s really keen, just give them a call and see what they suggest!

Q: What happens if the weather is bad on the day of the paddleboard lesson?

A: If the weather doesn’t cooperate, they usually reschedule lessons for a later date. It’s best to check the website or call them a day or two before to confirm. They’re really flexible with rescheduling!

Q: What do you wear for the paddleboarding lesson? Is there a dress code?

A: You’ll want to wear something comfortable that you don't mind getting wet. A swimsuit or quick-dry clothes work best. They provide surf shirts, so just bring your swimwear and maybe some water shoes if you have them!

Just did the paddleboarding lesson at North Shore and I loved it!

I recently took the 2-hour stand-up paddleboard lesson at the North Shore Surf Girls school, and it was amazing! The calm waters of the Anahulu River were perfect for beginners like me. We saw a few sea turtles, which was a cool bonus! The instructors were super friendly and kept the group small, so I felt like I got a lot of attention. I totally recommend it as a gift for anyone looking for a fun day in Oahu!

Thinking of gifting a paddleboarding lesson - any tips?

I’m considering getting the North Shore paddleboard lesson for my sister's birthday. She’s never done it before, but loves the water. I’m wondering if it’s suitable for a complete newbie? Also, how's the vibe with the instructors? I don’t want her to feel overwhelmed!
