This day tour gives you the chance to venture north from the Phoenix area to see several historical sites that visitors come from around the world to see. This allows you to experience several interesting locations that are so important in the history of Arizona. Our first stop will be at Walnut Canyon National Monument where you will have a chance to learn more about the area in the visitor center and also walk the upper trail that takes you right to many ancient dwellings right on the trail. Then off to the Meteor Crater which is such a unique experience to see and be able to walk right out and stand on the edge. Then we are off to Winslow for lunch & a visit to the famous corner made famous in an Eagles song ("Take It Easy"). While in Winslow we will visit the Historic La Posada Hotel for a great lunch (included up to $20 per person). On our return to Phoenix, we will go thru Sunset Pass & our ponderosa forest.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for the Meteor Crater and Walnut Canyon tour?

A: There isn't a strict age limit, but I'd say it's best for kids 8 and up since the trails at Walnut Canyon can be a bit steep. It really depends on how comfortable the kids are with hiking. Just make sure they have proper shoes and plenty of water!

Q: What's the best time of year for this tour?

A: Honestly, spring and fall are the best! The weather is mild, so you won't be dying of heat when hiking. Summer can get super hot, and winter may have some chilly moments. I'd recommend checking the forecast before you go.

Q: Is lunch really included in the tour price? What if we want to order more?

A: Yes, lunch is included up to $20 per person at La Posada, which is pretty nice! If you want to order extra, just pay the difference. The food there is delicious, so I wouldn't blame you if you do!

Thinking of gifting the Meteor Crater tour—any tips?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to gift the Northern Arizona Meteor Crater and Walnut Canyon tour to my partner for their birthday. We love hiking and checking out unique spots. Just wondering about the trails at Walnut Canyon and if the Meteor Crater is hard to navigate. Also, is the lunch really good at La Posada? Thanks!

Just got back from the Meteor Crater tour—amazing experience!

So I went on the Meteor Crater and Walnut Canyon tour last weekend, and it was fantastic! The ancient dwellings at the canyon are breathtaking, and standing on the edge of the crater is surreal. Lunch at La Posada was a highlight, definitely worth it. I’d say it’s a great gift for anyone who loves the outdoors!
