Trade the crowded roadside pullouts for a private wilderness lodge deep in Alaska’s interior—where the aurora appears directly overhead in skies with zero light pollution. A scenic drive through the Alaskan wilderness is part of the adventure. Led by a native Alaskan guide with 20+ years of aurora experience, this small-group tour (max 10 guests) gives you the best of both worlds: a warm, fully equipped lodge on clear nights, plus the flexibility to chase the lights by van when clouds roll in. No other Fairbanks tour offers both. ✓ Private wilderness lodge with fireplace, panoramic windows, hot drinks, snacks, and a clean bathroom—stay warm all night while watching the aurora ✓ Mobile aurora chasing included if clouds move in—the only Fairbanks lodge tour with this flexibility ✓ Small group of 10 or fewer so everyone gets personal attention and time with the lights ✓ Round-trip hotel pickup from Fairbanks with a scenic drive through Alaska’s interior—no winter driving stress

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for this tour? Can kids join?

A: Yes, families can definitely join! There’s no strict age limit, but they recommend it for kids aged 8 and up due to the late hours and cold weather. It's a great opportunity for kids to learn about the auroras and Alaskan culture, especially with the native guide. Just make sure they’re bundled up warm!

Q: What happens if the weather's bad? Can we reschedule?

A: If the weather’s not cooperating, they’ll try mobile aurora chasing, so you’re not stuck at the lodge. If the conditions are really bad and you can’t see anything, they may offer to reschedule for you. Just check with them about their specific policies when you book.

Q: What should I wear for this tour? Is it really cold?

A: Definitely dress in layers! It can get super cold, especially at night while you’re waiting for the auroras. Make sure to have a good thermal base layer, a warm jacket, and don’t forget gloves and a hat. They provide snacks and hot drinks, which helps, but you need to stay warm too!

I just got back from the Northern Lights Lodge Tour in Fairbanks and wow, it was amazing! We had a small group and our guide was super knowledgeable. The lodge is cozy with a fireplace, and the snacks were perfect for keeping warm. We got lucky and chased the auroras twice! Definitely recommend, but prepare for cold weather. Bring layers and a good camera!

Considering the Northern Lights Lodge & Chase Tour as a gift!

I’m thinking about gifting the Northern Lights Lodge experience to my parents for their anniversary. They love nature but have never seen the auroras. Any tips on booking or what to expect? Would it be worth it? I want them to have an unforgettable experience!
