Q&A
A: If the helicopter ride is canceled, they will refund $350 for that portion of the tour. The ground tour of Hilo will still happen as planned, so you won't miss out on the whole experience. Just keep an eye on the weather leading up to the tour, and be ready for possible changes!
A: Yes, children under 2 can fly for free but must sit on an adult's lap. Kids 2 and older need their own seat. It's a great family experience, but do check with the provider for any specific age restrictions or recommendations.
A: Dress in layers! It can get chilly up in the helicopter, so a light jacket or hoodie is a good idea. Comfortable shoes are a must for the ground tour, and don’t forget sunglasses. You’ll want to be prepared for both the ride and exploring Hilo!

Thinking of booking the Big Island Volcano Helicopter Tour! Any tips?
Hey everyone! I'm looking at the Oahu to Big Island helicopter tour and I'm super excited! I’ve heard the views of the volcano are insane, and I want to make sure I don't miss anything. Does anyone have tips on the best time to book? Also, did you feel the ground tour after the helicopter was worth it?
Just got back from the Big Island Helicopter Tour – WOW!
I did the Oahu to Big Island tour last month and it was out of this world! The helicopter ride was about 50 minutes, and we saw lava flows and waterfalls. The Hilo tour was a nice chill down after the excitement. Just a heads up, be ready for early mornings, but it's so worth it!
