Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for the plantation tours? I'm thinking about taking my kids.

A: There's no specific age limit for the tours, but younger kids might get bored with the history part. The guides are really good at keeping it engaging, though! I'd say it's suitable for kids aged 8 and up who can appreciate the stories. Just keep in mind it's outdoors a lot, so bring sunscreen!

Q: What should I wear for the Oak Alley tour? Is there a dress code?

A: There's no strict dress code, but I recommend comfy shoes since you'll be walking a lot. It can get hot and sunny, so breathable fabrics are best. Some folks like to dress up a bit since it's a classy setting, but you do you! Just check the weather too, as it can rain in the afternoons.

Q: How's the parking situation if we drive ourselves? Is it easy to find?

A: If you're driving, parking at both plantations is usually pretty straightforward. Oak Alley has a large lot, but it can fill up during peak times. Laura Plantation has parking too, and it's usually less crowded. Just get there early, especially if you're going on a weekend!

Planning to surprise my partner with the Laura Plantation tour!

Hey everyone! I’m thinking of booking the Laura Plantation tour as a surprise for my partner’s birthday. We’re both history buffs, and I’ve heard the stories there are amazing. Has anyone done this tour recently? How was the guide? Also, what are the best times to go? I want it to be special!

Just got back from Oak Alley! What an experience!

I just did the Oak Alley tour last weekend and wow, what a beautiful place! The trees and the mansion are so stunning. The guide was awesome too, shared really interesting stories. We did the morning tour, and I highly recommend it. Just watch out for the heat if you go in summer — it gets hot fast! Definitely a must-see if you're in New Orleans.
