Q&A
A: Yes, for the Open Water Scuba Certification, participants generally need to be at least 10 years old. Kids under 15 usually have to dive with a parent or guardian. If you're thinking about gifting this to a younger person, just double-check with the provider, as they can give you the most current info!
A: You’ll want to wear a swimsuit and bring a rash guard or a wetsuit if you're prone to getting cold. The rental shop will provide most of the scuba gear, but make sure to wear something that you’re comfortable getting wet in. Flip-flops are also a good idea for before and after the dives!
A: If the weather’s bad, the company will usually reschedule your dive. They’re pretty flexible on dates and want to make sure you have the best experience! Just keep an eye on your email for any updates, and they should give you a heads up if anything changes.

Thinking about gifting the Open Water Scuba Certification - any tips?
I’m considering getting the Open Water Scuba Certification in Oahu for my brother’s birthday. He’s always been into the ocean, but he’s never scuba dived before. I’m worried about how intense the training is and if he’ll be comfortable. Any advice or experiences would be super helpful!
Just completed my Open Water Scuba Certification in Oahu!
I just finished the Open Water Scuba Certification with Honolulu Scuba Company, and WOW! The instructors were super chill and really helpful. I saw so many fish and even a turtle! If you're considering it, just go for it. You won’t regret it. Definitely bring a waterproof camera!
