March through November, daily; limited dates in the off-season! Our tours include more than St. James Court. We see twice as much as other neighborhood walking tours, visiting Ormsby Avenue, Park Avenue cottages, Floral Terrace, the Witches' Tree, and Millionaires Row. Bourbon barons, racetrack royalty, and titans of tobacco settled here in the 1800s. Today, impressive Victorian mansions and quirky residents have earned national attention for Old Louisville. Author David Dominé often guides groups himself. The New York Times recommends his tours as a MUST during a visitor's "36 Hours in Louisville." Learn more in A DARK ROOM IN GLITTER BALL CITY, David's next book—out in October 2021! Narrated walks depart from the transitional edge of the neighborhood. If you love old houses, this is the tour for you! If you do not like an up-and-coming neighborhood with a diverse racial make up, please stay home. If you can't go 90 minutes without a bathroom, this is not for you!

Q&A

Q: What's the age limit for kids on this walking tour?

A: There’s no strict age limit, but it’s probably best suited for kids 10 and up. The tour lasts about 90 minutes and can include some historical details that younger kids might not be super interested in. Just make sure they can handle a walk and enjoy the sights!

Q: Is there a bathroom break during the tour?

A: Unfortunately, there aren't any scheduled bathroom breaks during the tour. It’s about 90 minutes long, so if you need to go, I’d recommend using the bathroom before starting. There’s a park nearby if you want to arrive early!

Q: What should I wear for this walking tour?

A: Comfort is key! Wear comfortable shoes since you’ll be walking on pavement and maybe uneven sidewalks. Dress for the weather since it can get hot in summer or chilly in fall. Layers are a good idea!

Just got back from the Old Louisville Walking Tour!

Wow, what an experience! Our guide was David Dominé himself, and he made the history of the area come alive. We saw the Witches' Tree and Millionaires Row, and the houses are stunning! The tour was perfect for a nice afternoon in Louisville. I highly recommend it as a gift for anyone who loves history or architecture. Just a heads up, wear comfy shoes!

Considering the Old Louisville Walking Tour as a gift!

I’m really thinking about getting this for my sister who loves old houses and history. It’s in Louisville, which is drivable for us, but I’m curious—how’s the parking situation? Is it easy to find a spot near the starting point?
