A: There are no strict age limits, but kids need to be able to reach the pedals and handle the bike comfortably. Typically, kids around 12 and up do pretty well. They also recommend bringing a helmet for younger riders, and they have helmets available for rent if needed.
A: Comfortable, casual clothes work best! I’d recommend wearing shorts or breathable pants since you might get warm. Also, closed-toe shoes are a must for safety, and don’t forget sunglasses and sunscreen if it’s a sunny day on the Balboa Peninsula!
A: If you need to reschedule, just call the shop or drop by. They’re pretty accommodating, but try to give them at least 24 hours notice. If the weather’s bad, they can help you find a new time that works for you.

I’m considering getting this electric bike rental experience for my parents. They love the beach and it sounds like a fun way to explore the Balboa Peninsula! Is the area easy to ride around? What’s the vibe like? Would they need to be super fit to handle the bikes?
Just did the Pedego Electric Bike rental! Here’s my review.
I rented Pedego bikes last weekend at 20th Street Beach and Bikes in Newport. We rode all around Balboa Peninsula, and it was such a blast! The bikes are super comfortable, and the view of the beach was stunning. It’s perfect for all ages, really. We stopped for ice cream midway which made it even more fun. I highly recommend it as a gift experience!
