The Pirate Escape Scavenger Hunt will take guests back in time to the Golden Age of Piracy along the Carolina Coastline. Two local historians have designed an immersive experience like no other scavenger hunts currently offered in Charleston. Guests will start at the Fireproof Museum where admittance is free as part of the experience. Using the provided packet guests will follow a themed escape of Pirates during the Pirate Siege of Charles Towne in 1718. The hunt will have guests visit sites and locations that were around during the very real pirate siege of 1718 and find items to help "escape." Information and details provided along the route have been vetted and will provide hidden insight that most guests would have difficulty finding on their own. Great for families, friends, solo travelers and corporate groups; this scavenger hunt will provide a budget friendly way to explore Charleston's colonial era on your own time. Join us in taking this Pirate Escape Adventure!

Q&A

Q: Are there any age restrictions for the Pirate Escape scavenger hunt?

A: There's no strict age limit! It's designed to be fun for families, so kids can definitely join in. Just keep in mind that some of the historical info might be more suited to older kids or adults. If you have younger ones, they might need a bit of help with the scavenger hunt. Overall, it's a great way to explore Charleston together!

Q: What should we wear for the scavenger hunt? Is it mostly walking?

A: Definitely wear comfortable shoes since there’s a lot of walking involved! Dress for the weather too, since it can get pretty warm in Charleston. I'd recommend a hat and some sunscreen if you're going during the summer. Just be prepared to have fun and explore!

Q: How does the rescheduling work if the weather is bad?

A: If the weather doesn’t cooperate, you can typically reschedule your scavenger hunt with the provider. Just make sure to check their cancellation policy when you book. They’re pretty accommodating as long as you give them notice!

Just did the Pirate Escape scavenger hunt! So worth it!

We just finished the Pirate Escape Charleston Scavenger Hunt yesterday, and wow, what a blast! Starting at the Fireproof Museum was cool, and the hunt took us all around the historic area. We learned a ton about the pirate siege of 1718 that I never knew before. It’s super family-friendly too, and my kids had no problem keeping up with the walking. Highly recommend for a unique way to explore Charleston!

Considering this for my friend's birthday - any tips?

I’m thinking about gifting the Pirate Escape scavenger hunt to my friend for their birthday. They love history and also enjoy scavenger hunts. How’s the pacing? Is it challenging enough to keep adults entertained too? Any tips for making the experience even better?
