We are the premier surf school in California's Central Coast and we have been teaching surf lessons here in Pismo Beach since 1996. We have tons of local surf knowledge as well as many of our instructors are world travelers/surfers. We truly love what we do and you will have the best time in the world going with us. Laugh with us, surf with us and maybe even come to one of our bonfires! A: Yes, kids can absolutely participate! Sandbar Surf School welcomes ages 7 and up for their lessons. They even have instructors who are great with kids and make it a fun experience. Just remember to check in with the school for any specific requirements or recommendations for younger surfers!

Q: What's the best time of year to take surf lessons in Pismo Beach?

A: The summer months are the best for beginner surf lessons in Pismo! The waves are usually smaller and the water is warmer, making it more comfortable. However, if you’re up for a little chill, spring and fall can be great too, just be prepared for cooler water temps. Plus, fewer crowds!

Q: What should we wear to the surf lessons? Do we need anything special?

A: You just need a swimsuit and maybe a towel for after! The surf school provides wetsuits, so you won't need to bring your own. Just be sure to wear sunscreen, and if it's cooler, maybe a light jacket for before or after the lesson. Super chill vibes overall!

So I finally booked surf lessons with Sandbar Surf School for next month and I'm super excited! I read that they provide all the gear, which is awesome since I don't have a wetsuit. Any tips for a total beginner? I'm hoping to not wipe out too much! 😂
