Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for the Po'ipu surf lesson? I'm thinking of gifting this to my teenage nephew.

A: Great question! The Po'ipu surf lesson is suitable for ages 8 and up. It's a fun experience for teens, and the instructors are really good at making everyone feel comfortable, regardless of skill level. Just make sure they know how to swim since safety is a priority.

Q: What happens if the weather is bad on the day of the lesson? Can we reschedule?

A: If the weather doesn't cooperate, Hoku Water Sports will reach out to you to reschedule. They are really flexible and will work with you to find a new date. Just keep an eye on the forecast as your lesson date approaches!

Q: What should I wear for this surf lesson? Is it okay to just go in my swimsuit?

A: Absolutely! A swimsuit is perfect for the surf lesson. Just make sure to wear sunscreen and maybe bring a rash guard if you have one. The surf school provides booties and rash guards too, so you’ll be covered. Comfort is key!

Thinking of gifting a Po'ipu surf lesson – any advice?

I really want to get my sister a Po'ipu surf lesson as a gift for her birthday. She’s always wanted to learn how to surf but has never tried it. I’m a bit nervous since I know she’s not very confident in the water. Do you think the instructors here are good with beginners? Also, how long are the lessons usually?

Just finished my first surf lesson at Po'ipu—so stoked!

OMG, I just had my first surf lesson with Hoku Water Sports in Po'ipu, and it was amazing! The instructors were super chill and really knew their stuff. I was nervous at first, but they made it so fun! I actually got up on the board a bunch of times! Highly recommend it to anyone looking to try surfing. Just wear a swimsuit and get ready for some laughs!
