Learn the story of the Portland, Oregon while enjoying its highest and most intimate viewpoints, smelling roses, wandering through gardens, peaking into a forested park and sampling donuts. After we pick you up at Director Park downtown, we’ll drive up the city's north/south dividing line, head to the summit of King’s Heights, and walk the grounds of the mansion built by a newspaper baron to the view that was once available only to the city’s elite. We'll visit Washington Park, and walk through our favorite secret garden, and into the Rose Test Garden. In season, we'll smell the roses -- literally and figuratively! Next: the city center and cultural district. It wouldn't be Portland without a stop for doughnuts, so we'll discuss the history of the city's foundation and the design of these blocks after we duck into one of our favorite shops and grab a treat. We'll visit the South Waterfront, an inner Eastside neighborhood, and give you lots of foodie ideas before we drop you off!

Q&A

Q: What's the best time of year to take this tour? Are the rose gardens always in bloom?

A: The best time to enjoy this tour is definitely late spring to early summer, like May through June, when the roses are at their peak. The Rose Test Garden is especially beautiful then! If you go in the fall or winter, the gardens may not have as many flowers, but the views are still stunning. Just be sure to check the weather before you go!

Q: Are there any age restrictions for this tour? Can I bring my kids?

A: This tour is family-friendly! Kids are welcome, and it's a great way to introduce them to Portland's history and sights. Just keep in mind that some parts involve walking, so make sure they’re up for it. It’s a relaxed pace, though, and the doughnut stop is sure to keep them happy.

Q: What should I wear for the city tour? Is it a lot of walking?

A: Dress comfortably! You'll be doing quite a bit of walking, especially in Washington Park and the Rose Test Garden. Sneakers or comfy walking shoes are your best bet. Layering is key in Portland, too, since the weather can change. Bring a light jacket, just in case!

Just did the Portland City Tour - Amazing Experience!

I went on the Portland City Tour last month, and it was such a blast! We started at Director Park and drove up to King’s Heights, the view was unreal! The Rose Garden was in full bloom, and I got some awesome pics. Plus, the doughnuts at Voodoo were a sweet highlight. I can’t recommend this experience enough, especially if you’re new to the city!

Thinking about gifting the Portland City Tour!

I’m considering getting this tour for my parents who are visiting. They love gardens and good food. I think they’d really enjoy the doughnut stop! Can anyone share what they thought of the tour or if it’s worth it?
