Q&A

Q: Is there a weight limit for the flight, and what if I need to reschedule?

A: Yes, there is a weight limit for the flight at 250 lbs per person. If you need to reschedule, you can usually do it by calling Seawind Aviation directly at least 48 hours in advance. They’re pretty flexible but it’s better to check early!

Q: Are kids allowed on this tour? What age do you recommend?

A: Kids are definitely allowed on the tour! They suggest at least 8 years old for safety reasons, but it really depends on the kid. Just keep in mind it’s a 20-minute flight, so if your kids get antsy, maybe it’s not the best fit.

Q: What’s the best time of year to do this? Any weather issues?

A: Late summer is the best! August is prime time for bear watching as they’re hunting for salmon. Just keep an eye on the weather; tours can be canceled if it’s too cloudy or windy, so have a backup plan.

Just got back from the Bear-Viewing Tour and WOW!

I just did the Prince of Wales Island Bear-Viewing Tour last weekend! It was absolutely amazing! The flight from Ketchikan was quick, and the views were stunning. Seeing the bears up close while they fished was something else! The guides were super knowledgeable, and we had plenty of time to take pictures. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Alaska!

Considering this as a gift for my dad, any thoughts?

My dad’s a huge nature lover and I’m thinking of gifting him the bear-viewing tour. Has anyone done this? What’s the best way to surprise him? I want it to be a memorable experience!
