If you are interested in an Olympic day hike that has it all, then look no further than our Maiden Peak tour. This tour explores the eastern section of the Grand Ridge trail, the highest maintained trail in Olympic National Park. The trail starts at 5,300 feet in Deer Park and meanders through subalpine forested mountainsides, meadows carpeted in wildflowers, and finishes at 6,200 feet on Maiden Peak. Along the way, you will get unparalleled, wide open views of the northern Cascade Mountains including Mt. Baker to the east, Vancouver Island nestled in the stunning Strait of Juan de Fuca to the north, and Grand Valley and panoramic views of the Olympic mountains to the South. This challenging hike is a favorite amongst our guides and we are certain it will be one of yours as well.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for this hike? I'm thinking about gifting it to my teen.

A: There's no strict age limit, but it is a challenging hike. I brought my 15-year-old, and they did great but be sure they're fit and prepared for the elevation gain. Just let your guide know about the age before you book to see if they have any specific recommendations.

Q: What's the best time of year to do this hike? Is it weather-dependent?

A: Late summer to early fall is ideal for this hike. The weather is usually more stable, and you'll get to see the meadows in full bloom! If you're worried about rain, July through early September tends to have the least amount. Just check the forecast as you get closer to your dates.

Q: How hard is this hike? I’m thinking of surprising my sister who’s not super experienced.

A: It’s definitely challenging but doable if your sister is moderately fit. The elevation gain is significant, and there are some steep sections. I’d recommend some practice hikes to build up stamina. You'll definitely want to wear good hiking shoes and bring plenty of water!

Thinking of gifting the Private Day Hike to Maiden Peak – any tips?

So I’m considering this hike for my boyfriend’s birthday. He’s into outdoor stuff but hasn’t done a lot of elevation hikes. I love that they provide trekking poles and have a guide, but I’m worried about how steep it gets. Is it really worth it? Also, any recommendations for what to wear? I want him to be comfortable! Thanks!

Just did the Maiden Peak hike – here’s my review!

Wow, what an experience! I just came back from the Private Day Hike to Maiden Peak and it blew my mind. The views are out of this world, especially when you get to the top. Our guide was super helpful and shared so much about the area. Make sure to bring a camera! And don’t forget snacks—you're gonna want some energy up there. Can't recommend this enough if you're into nature!
