I am Captain Gresh Meggett and I am an eighth generation Charlestonian. My family has been plying these waters since the early 1700s. These beautiful estuaries that we will be traveling on were my playground as a kid and I still get just as I was excited when I go into them now! All of my boat charters are private so it is just you and your family on the boat if you would like full details as to what we do on my excursions please visit my website. I can’t wait to hear from y’all!

Q&A

Q: What’s the best time to go for the dolphin watching? Is it better in the morning or afternoon?

A: I've been on the tour a couple of times, and I really think mornings are best! The water is calmer, and we saw way more dolphins. Capt. Gresh mentioned that they're more active early on. Just keep in mind that it can get a bit hot later in the day, so if you're sensitive to heat, morning is the way to go!

Q: Is there an age limit for kids on this tour?

A: There’s no strict age limit, but it's best for kids who can sit still and enjoy the ride. My 5-year-old had a great time, but younger kids might need some extra attention. Capt. Gresh is super accommodating, and he even had life jackets for my little ones. Just check with him beforehand if you have any concerns!

Q: What should I wear for the boat tour? Do I need sunscreen?

A: Definitely wear comfortable clothes and some shoes that can get wet! Flip-flops or sandals are perfect. Sunscreen is a must! You’ll be out in the sun for a while, and it gets hot. I also brought a hat and sunglasses, which helped a lot. Enjoy the trip!

Thinking of gifting the dolphin watch experience! Any tips?

I'm looking to surprise my parents with the Private Dolphin Watch tour in Folly Beach. They love nature and are huge fans of dolphin watching! I’m wondering if this is something they'd really enjoy or if they'd find it too slow-paced. Also, should I book in advance? Any other advice would be great!

Just got back from the dolphin tour, and wow!

I just did the Private Dolphin Watch with Captain Gresh, and it was AMAZING! We saw so many dolphins, and Gresh shared a ton of cool history about Charleston. The boat was super comfortable too, just us and our family. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a unique experience!
