Imagine meeting an old friend who is a historian and a great story teller for drink or two and having him show you around. That's exactly what your Barwalk tour will be like. My name is Emzy. I've been guiding guests around San Antonio for over twenty years and I invite you to join me for lunch, a cocktail and an afternoon of all things history. We will meet in the lobby of the historic Menger Hotel before a brief walk through and discussion of all things Alamo before heading to the world famous riverwalk for a lunch at a locally owned bistro. We conclude our afternoon back at the Menger Bar for a digestif and private tour of the historic hotel and bar. The Menger Hotel bar that Teddy Roosevelt bellied up to in May of 1898 and recruited many his Rough Riders after a round or two. Drink in hand we will then explore the oldest hotel west of the Mississippi and discover it's many secrets including the history behind why it is reportedly the most haunted hotel in Texas.

Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for this tour? Can kids join?

A: This tour is primarily designed for adults since it involves alcohol and some mature topics of history. However, older teens (16+) can typically join as long as they're accompanied by an adult. Just check with Emzy beforehand to make sure it’s a good fit for your family!

Q: What if it rains? Do they cancel or reschedule?

A: Good question! The tour goes on rain or shine, but if the weather is really bad, Emzy will reach out to reschedule. The majority of the tour is outside, so just keep an eye on the forecast and dress accordingly.

Q: How much walking do we do? Is it easy for older folks?

A: The walking is pretty relaxed and mostly along the Riverwalk, so it's manageable for most people. Emzy makes sure to take breaks and keeps the pace easy. If anyone has mobility issues, just let him know ahead of time, and he can adjust the tour as needed.

Just did the Private Drunk History Tour - Amazing Experience!

I took the Private Drunk History Tour in San Antonio last week and it was absolutely fantastic! Emzy is such a great storyteller. We started at the Menger Hotel, learned tons about the Alamo, and then had lunch along the Riverwalk. The food was delicious! Ending with a drink at the historic bar was the cherry on top. Highly recommend it for anyone who loves history and a good time!

Thinking of gifting the Drunk History Tour, any thoughts?

I'm considering this Private Drunk History Tour for my uncle's birthday since he loves history and a good drink. Has anyone done it recently? What was your favorite part? I'm just nervous about how long it lasts and if it’s worth the money.
