Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for kids to join the mushing cart ride?

A: There’s no strict age limit, but they recommend kids be at least 5 years old to really enjoy the experience. It’s a thrilling ride but also requires some patience with the dogs. Just make sure they're bundled up since it might get chilly!

Q: What should I wear for this experience? Is it cold?

A: Dress in layers! Even though it’s fall, it can get pretty chilly out there. Think warm jackets, gloves, and hats. The dogs will be moving so you’ll keep warm, but it’s better to be prepared, especially if you’re not used to Alaskan weather.

Q: Are there options to reschedule if the weather is bad?

A: Yes! The Last Frontier Mushing Co-op is really flexible with weather conditions. If it’s unsafe, they’ll work with you to find another date. Just give them a call as soon as you can.

Thinking of gifting the Fall Foliage Mushing Cart Ride! Any tips?

I’m looking to surprise my partner with this dog sledding experience down in Fairbanks. The idea of mushing without snow is intriguing! I’ve heard it’s super fun to see the dogs back in action too. Any insights on what it’s like? How’s the scenery? Also, should I get them a warm jacket as a part of the gift?

Just did the mushing cart ride! What an experience!

I went on the Private Fall Foliage Mushing Cart Ride last week, and it was incredible! The views of the changing leaves were stunning, and the dogs were so energetic. They serve hot cocoa afterwards, which was a nice touch. Pro tip: don’t wear your best shoes! You might step in some mud. Totally worth it though!
