Q&A
A: Layers are key! Since the weather can change quickly in Hatcher Pass, I'd recommend wearing a moisture-wicking base layer, a warm fleece or sweater, and a waterproof jacket. Good hiking boots are a must too, and don’t forget a hat and gloves just in case it gets windy. You might be warm while hiking but cooler when you stop for snacks or at the brewery!
A: Definitely! The hike is pretty mellow with a flat, well-maintained trail, making it great for families. Kids would love the beaver dam stop and the snack break is a nice touch. Just keep an eye on younger ones near the edges, but most kids 5 and up should handle it fine. Plus, the brewery stop is super family-friendly, with non-alcoholic options for them!
A: Great question! If the weather doesn’t cooperate, you can definitely reschedule. The provider is pretty flexible, just make sure you let them know in advance. They want everyone to have a good time, so they’ll work with you on finding a better day. Just check their policy before booking so you’re all set!

Just did the Private Hike and Brew Trip in Palmer—what an adventure!
OMG, I just got back from the hike in Hatcher Pass and it was absolutely stunning! The trail was super easy to walk and the views of the glaciers were something else. Stopping at the beaver dam for snacks was such a nice touch! Afterward, we hit the brewery and tried the local beers; I went for a flight and loved every single one. Highly recommend this as a gift for anyone who loves the outdoors!
Thinking of gifting the Private Hike and Brew Trip—any thoughts?
I’m considering this experience for my partner’s birthday. They love hiking but haven’t been to Alaska yet. Can anyone share what it’s like? How long does the hike take roughly? Also, do they serve food at the brewery?
