Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for this hike? Can kids join?

A: Great question! The trek is suitable for older children, usually ages 10 and up, but it really depends on their fitness level. Just keep in mind the terrain can get steep and rocky at parts, so kids need to be up for a challenge. Also, be sure they can handle the altitude since it goes up to 1600 feet!

Q: What should we wear for the hike? Is it casual or more serious gear?

A: I'd recommend wearing comfortable hiking shoes and layers! The weather can change quickly in Ketchikan, so bring a rain jacket and a warm layer for when you reach the overlook. Also, don’t forget a hat and sunscreen for those sunny days. You don't need anything too fancy, just be ready for a good trek!

Q: What happens if the weather’s bad? Can we reschedule for another day?

A: If the weather looks unsafe (like heavy rain or wind), they’ll offer you a chance to reschedule. Just keep an eye on the forecast and give them a call if you’re unsure. It's a beautiful hike, so you wouldn't want to miss the views because of bad weather!

Just did the Ketchikan Alpine Overlook Trek, and wow!

I finally went on the Private Ketchikan Alpine Overlook Adventure Trek last week and it was breathtaking! The views from the top are unreal—like all the mountains and Tongass Narrows laid out below you. It was a pretty good workout but totally worth it. Our guide was super knowledgeable about the area which made it even better. Just a heads up, wear good shoes and be ready for all kinds of weather. Anyone else done this trek?

Thinking about gifting the Ketchikan Trek experience!

Anyone have thoughts on the Private Ketchikan Alpine Overlook Adventure? I’m looking for something unique for my sister’s birthday. She loves the outdoors but I’m worried about her fitness level. Is it super strenuous, or could a moderately fit person handle it? Also, how’s the view? Worth it?
