This activity is an amazing experience for those of all ages. At Crystal River Manatee Adventures we try our absolute best to make it a once in a lifetime trip. The day starts with free parking at our shop and then we provide transportation down to the boat, just a short drive away. We will then take a ride out to the Gulf of Mexico and find a spot where we think we’ll find lots of scallops! With the trip all equipment (mask, snorkel, and fins) is included. We also have a cooler filled with water and ice on the boat, which you can use for any food or beverages you bring along with you. We also provide an in water guide for the trip to help collect your daily limit on scallops. After our time is complete in the Gulf, we will then return to King’s Bay where we will give you the chance to hop into one of our beautiful springs to swim around and check out before heading back to the dock.

Q: Is there an age limit for the scallop charter? Can kids join?

A: Great question! There’s no strict age limit for the private scallop charter, and kids can definitely join as long as they're comfortable in the water. Just keep in mind that they’ll need to wear life jackets and have adult supervision. It's a fun family activity for all ages!

Q: What should we wear for this scalloping trip?

A: I'd recommend wearing a swimsuit and maybe a rash guard if you burn easily. Water shoes are also a good idea since the seabed can be a bit rough. The charter provides the snorkeling gear, but bring a hat and sunglasses for sun protection!

Q: How does the cancellation policy work if the weather is bad?

A: The weather can be unpredictable, but if conditions aren't safe for scalloping, they usually contact you ahead of time to reschedule. Make sure to check in with them a day before your trip. It's great that they prioritize safety!

Just got back from the scallop charter and it was AMAZING!

I went on the private scallop charter with a few friends last weekend in Crystal River. The team at Crystal River Manatee Adventures was super friendly and helpful. We found a great spot and honestly, I’ve never seen so many scallops! The guide was awesome at showing us how to catch them. After we were done, we jumped in the springs and it was such a refreshing way to end the day. Totally recommend this as a gift for anyone!
