Q&A

Q: What's the age limit for the private surf lessons? Can younger kids join?

A: The private surf lessons are great for all ages, including kids! Just make sure they're comfortable in the water. Matt is really good with younger surfers and adapts his lessons based on their experience. I took my 10-year-old, and he had an absolute blast!

Q: What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my lesson?

A: If the weather isn’t cooperating, Shaka Surfing Academy will work with you to reschedule your lesson. Safety is their top priority. Just keep an eye on the forecast and reach out if it looks sketchy!

Q: What should I wear for the lesson? Do they provide wetsuits?

A: For the private surf lesson, you don’t have to worry about wetsuits since they provide reef shoes and surfboards! Just wear a swimsuit and maybe a rash guard for some sun protection. It can get pretty hot out there!

Thinking about booking a private surf lesson for my boyfriend's birthday!

I've been looking at the Private Surf Lesson with Matt at Shaka Surfing Academy in Waikiki. The reviews are amazing! I think it’ll be such a fun experience for him since he’s been wanting to learn how to surf. The prices are also super reasonable. Just curious if anyone has taken the lesson and how it went?

Is the private surfing lesson suitable for beginners?

I'm thinking of getting this for my sister, but I’m not sure if she's going to be able to pick it up. She's never surfed before! Can you actually learn basics in just one lesson? What was your experience like?
