Learn to surf on Maui. Our friendly and experienced instructors will have you up and riding waves during your 2 hour class. The private surf lesson is a great class for one-on-one attention and support from your surf coach. This class is recommended if you have surfed before or if you would like 100% attention from your surf coach. You will progress quicker with a private lesson. We have a water photographer available to capture your surf session (additional rates apply). We provide your board, lycra surf shirt, and reef shoes.

Q: What if the weather doesn't cooperate? Can we reschedule our surf lesson?

A: Yes, Surf Club Maui is really flexible with rescheduling due to weather. If it looks like rain or waves are too rough, just give them a call and they'll help you find another date. They want you to have a great experience, so they totally get it. Just make sure to check in with them at least a couple of hours before your lesson!

Q: What should I wear for the surf lesson, and do they provide everything?

A: You’ll want to wear a swimsuit, and they provide a lycra surf shirt and reef shoes, which is awesome! Just make sure to apply some waterproof sunscreen before heading out. I wore a rash guard under the surf shirt for extra sun protection, and it worked well. You’ll be good to go!

Q: Is this good for beginners, or is it really just for people who’ve surfed before?

A: It’s actually great for beginners! The private lesson means you get all the attention you need, even if you’ve never surfed before. The instructors are super patient and will walk you through everything. I've seen friends who were total newbies stand up on their boards by the end of the lesson, so don't worry if you’re just starting out!

I did the private surf lesson at Kalama Beach last week, and it was AMAZING! The one-on-one coaching made all the difference, and I was catching waves in no time! The water photographer got some epic shots too, which were worth it. If you’re on the fence about booking, just go for it!
