Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for the private surf lesson in Santa Barbara?

A: There’s no strict age limit! Kids as young as 7 can join. Just keep in mind that they should be comfortable in the water. The instructors are super patient and know how to handle beginners of all ages!

Q: What should I wear for the surf lesson? Is it cold in the water?

A: You’ll get a wetsuit included in the lesson, so no worries there! Just wear a swimsuit underneath. The water can be a bit chilly, but the wetsuit helps a lot. Bring a towel and maybe flip-flops for after!

Q: What happens if the weather is bad? Can we reschedule?

A: If the weather’s not cooperating, they’ll typically contact you to reschedule. You can work with them to find a new time. Southern California weather is usually great, but just in case!

Just booked a private surf lesson in Santa Barbara!

Hey everyone! I just bought a private surf lesson for my partner’s birthday at Cal Coast Adventures. It's $0, which is awesome! I heard it's about 1.5 hours long, and the instructor helps you get up on the board. I'm a little nervous since we’ve never surfed before, but I think it'll be a fun challenge. Has anyone else done this? Any tips for a first-time surfer?

Can I bring my own board, or do I need to use theirs?

Thinking about booking this surf lesson in Santa Barbara, but I have my own board. Do I need to use the one they provide? Also, how many people usually join a session? I’d prefer a smaller group to get more personalized attention.
