Q&A

Q: What should I wear for the private tour in Ketchikan? Is it cold on the water?

A: I'd recommend wearing layers! It can get chilly out on the water, especially if you're going early or late in the season. A waterproof jacket is a must, and don't forget a hat and sunglasses. Captain Jack's boat is nice and spacious, but you want to be comfortable while checking out the wildlife!

Q: How flexible is Captain Jack with the itinerary? Can we request specific wildlife to see?

A: Captain Jack is super accommodating! You tell him what you’re hoping to see, and he’ll do his best to tailor the trip to your interests. Whether it's whales, bears, or just beautiful scenery, he’s got the local knowledge to make it happen. Just keep in mind that wildlife is unpredictable, but he’s got a good track record.

Q: Is this tour appropriate for kids? Are there any age limits?

A: The tour is great for families! Captain Jack loves sharing the experience with kids, and the boat is wheelchair-accessible, which is a bonus. There’s no specific age limit, but just be mindful of your kiddos’ comfort levels on the water.

Just got back from the Alaskan Wildlife Tour with Captain Jack—amazing experience!

I can't recommend this private tour enough! We saw humpback whales, seals, and even got to check out a lighthouse. Captain Jack is super knowledgeable and really made the trip feel personalized. The boat was comfortable, and we had plenty of room to move around. For anyone considering this as a gift, it’s totally worth it! We paid $900 for four people, and it was the highlight of our trip to Ketchikan.

Considering gifting the Alaskan Wildlife tour, any tips?

I’m looking to surprise my parents with this private tour—sounds perfect for them! They’ve always wanted to see Alaska's wildlife up close. Just curious if anyone has done it recently and has tips on what to ask Captain Jack or what to bring for the trip.
