Q&A

Q: What's the best time to book this tour for the best chance of seeing the Northern Lights?

A: The best time is typically between late September and early April, with peak activity usually from December to March. The longer nights during these months give you the best chance. Just keep in mind that it’s still up to Mother Nature, so there's never a guarantee you'll see them. Also, check the local aurora forecasts before you go!

Q: Is there an age limit for participants on this tour?

A: There’s no strict age limit mentioned, but it's best for adults and older kids who can stay up late! If you bring younger kids, make sure they can handle the late-night hours and cold temperatures. Just check with the tour provider to see if they have any specific recommendations.

Q: What should we wear for this experience, like do we need heavy coats?

A: Absolutely wear warm layers! Temperatures can drop significantly at night. A good insulated jacket, gloves, and thermal boots are recommended. If you have a camera, make sure it’s also weatherproof or keep it warm before taking it out. You want to be comfy while waiting for the lights to show up!

Just got back from the Northern Lights Tour in Fairbanks!

I went on this Private Tour with Alaska Journey Tours a couple of weeks ago, and I can't recommend it enough! We were picked up right at our hotel in downtown Fairbanks at 10:30 PM. The guide was super knowledgeable and even helped us with taking photos. The lights were a bit shy that night, but it was still a magical experience. Dress warmly, though! We stood outside for a while, and it got cold. Overall, a must-do when you're in Fairbanks!

Trying to decide if this tour is worth it for a surprise gift!

I’m thinking of getting this for my partner's birthday in February. We’ve never seen the Northern Lights and I heard Fairbanks is one of the best spots. Has anyone done this tour? Any tips on booking? I want it to be memorable!
