While making our way to our kayaking location, learn about life in Seward from your driver-guide, who will narrate as we make our way through town. As we leave the paved streets of Seward, we’ll travel along the shoreline of Resurrection Bay on the gravel surface of Lowell Road. We’ll view turquoise blue waters and beautiful mountain vistas while we travel comfortably by van to our beach. Participants must be 8 years old and a minimum of 50 lb to participate. Paddlers over 6'4" or 250 lb will not fit in our kayaks. Upon reaching our launch location, you’ll meet your kayaking guides for a quick briefing before heading out onto the water. It’s common to encounter sea otters, harbor seals, bald eagles and leaping salmon as we kayak. We may stop to take a short walk on the beach along Tonsina Creek to view a salmon spawning stream (active mid-July to early-September). This the perfect trip for those experiencing kayaking for the first time or for those short on time.

Q&A

Q: Is there a weight limit for this kayaking adventure?

A: Yes, there is a weight limit for this experience. Paddlers over 6'4" or 250 lb will not fit in the kayaks. It's also important to note that participants must be at least 8 years old and weigh a minimum of 50 lb. If you have someone in mind for this trip, just double-check their height and weight before booking!

Q: What should we wear for this kayaking trip?

A: I'd recommend wearing quick-drying clothes, like synthetic shorts and a moisture-wicking shirt. It's also good to bring a light jacket as it can get chilly on the water. The experience includes waterproof boots, so you won't need to worry about that. Just make sure to dress in layers in case the weather changes!

Q: What if the weather is bad on the day of the trip?

A: If the weather is too rough for kayaking, the provider typically reschedules the trip for you. They keep an eye on forecasts and prioritize safety, so no need to worry too much. Just make sure to confirm their rescheduling policy when you book, as it can vary!

Thinking of gifting the Resurrection Bay Kayaking Adventure!

Hey everyone! I'm considering this kayaking trip for my sister's birthday. She loves the outdoors but has never been kayaking before. I think the scenery in Seward is breathtaking! Just curious if anyone here has done this trip and if it was worth it? What did you like most? Also, do you think it’s okay for a beginner?

Can you really see sea otters while kayaking?

I’m planning a trip to Seward soon and this kayaking adventure sounds awesome! But are the wildlife sightings for real? I want to see sea otters and eagles! Any tips on the best time to go for those views?
