Q&A
A: Yes, there's usually a minimum age of 8 for this tour. It helps ensure that younger kids can handle the early mornings and the potential for some hiking to see the elk. Just make sure they’re ready for the cold, too—layers are key!
A: Definitely dress in layers! Mornings can be chilly in Estes Park, especially in September. I recommend thermal tops, a warm jacket, and comfortable hiking boots. Don't forget a hat and gloves, too, since you'll be out early!
A: Parking can be tricky, especially during peak fall colors. It’s best to arrive early, around 30 minutes before your tour starts. The timed-entry pass included in your tour helps with access, but it’s still good to plan ahead!

Just did the Ruttin' Around tour and it was amazing!
I just got back from the elk viewing tour in Estes Park, and wow, what a show! The bull elk were bugling and sparring right in front of us. We went at sunset, and the colors were stunning. Our guide was super knowledgeable and pointed out so much wildlife, not just elk. Plus, the RMNP pass was included, which made it easy! Can’t recommend this enough for anyone who loves nature.
Thinking about gifting this elk tour, any advice?
I’m considering getting the Ruttin' Around tour as a gift for my parents. They love the outdoors and miss going to the Rockies. I heard it’s a pretty unique experience. Just wanted to see if anyone has done it and if it’s suitable for older folks. Any tips on what to expect?
