Q&A

Q: Is there an age limit for kids on this tour? My son is 8 and I’m thinking of gifting this to him.

A: There's no strict age limit for the Dark Sky Experience, but I’d recommend it for kids 10 and up. The guide shares a lot of info that might be better suited for older children. My 12-year-old loved it, but I think my 8-year-old would’ve been too restless. Just keep in mind that it’s at night and might be a bit chilly!

Q: How bad is the light pollution at Antelope Island? Will we actually see stars?

A: It's a certified International Dark Sky Park, so the light pollution is minimal! I went last month, and we saw the Milky Way in all its glory. The guides use red-filtered lights which really helps keep your eyes adjusted for stargazing, too. You won’t be disappointed!

Q: What should I wear for the stargazing tour? Is it cold at night?

A: Definitely dress in layers! It can get chilly once the sun sets. I wore a hoodie and some comfy pants, and I was glad I did. Also, bring a blanket if you want to sit outside during the viewing; it makes it more comfortable. Trust me, you’ll want to stay out there for a while!

Just booked the Dark Sky Experience at Antelope Island - any tips?

I’m super excited! I just booked the Salt Lake Antelope Island Dark Sky Experience for next month. I’ve heard amazing things about the stargazing there. Is there a specific spot on the island where we’ll get the best views? Also, any must-know tips for first-timers?

Stargazing on Antelope Island - so worth it!

I just got back from the Dark Sky Experience, and I can’t recommend it enough! The views were breathtaking, and the guides were really passionate about astronomy. We saw Saturn’s rings clearly! Just a heads up, it gets a bit chilly, so bundle up. Don’t forget to bring a camera — the Milky Way looks amazing in photos!
