Experience the majesty of Southern California’s largest whale species on this exclusive small group speedboat expedition from San Diego. Journey through the seasons and witness gray whales in winter and spring, blue whales in the summer, and powerful humpbacks in the fall. Enjoy year round encounters with common dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, Risso’s dolphins, and on rare days even orcas. Sail aboard the most premium Zodiac fleet in San Diego. Our vessels are larger and more capable than the smaller RIBs used by other operators. This gives you superior stability, comfort, and range. We reach wildlife faster and explore farther offshore for the best encounters. Guided by industry leading naturalists and filmmakers who prioritize safety and conservation, you will experience the ocean the way professionals do. It is an immersive, intimate, and responsible adventure on the open ocean. With Net Zero Expeditions, excellence is the standard.

Q&A

Q: What's the age limit for kids on the whale watching tour?

A: There's no strict age limit, but they recommend kids be at least 6 years old to fully enjoy the experience and be safe on the Zodiac. It's a fast ride and can get bumpy, so make sure they're ready for that! We had a 7-year-old with us and they loved it!

Q: Can we reschedule if the weather's bad?

A: Yes, if the conditions aren’t safe for the tour, they will either cancel or reschedule. You’ll get a notice usually the night before if there’s a concern. Just keep an eye on your email!

Q: What should we wear on the Zodiac? Is it cold out there?

A: Dress in layers! It can get chilly on the water, especially if you’re going early in the morning. A light windbreaker and some comfy shoes work well. You might want to bring sunglasses and hats too, as the sun can be intense!

Thinking about the San Diego whale watching tour! Any tips?

I’m looking into booking the whale and dolphin watching experience on a fast Zodiac for my partner’s birthday. I’ve read that you can see blue whales in the summer! Has anyone done this tour with Net Zero Expeditions? What should we expect? Any tips for making it special?

A bit nervous about the fast Zodiac experience, anyone else feel this way?

I’m planning to do the San Diego whale watching adventure but I’m kind of anxious about being on a speedboat. Is it really that fast? How rough is the water usually? I just want to be prepared!
