Q&A
A: The best time for whale watching in San Diego is generally from December to April when the gray whales migrate south. During this time, you can see them up close as they pass through the area on their journey. I went in late January, and it was amazing—so many sightings!
A: There’s no strict age limit for kids, but it's best for children aged 5 and up due to the length of the trip and potential seasickness. Just make sure they're aware of the safety rules, and it’s a fun experience for the whole family!
A: Definitely wear layers! It can get pretty windy and chilly on the water, even in summer. A light jacket and some comfy shoes are a must. Also, don’t forget sunglasses and sunscreen. You’ll be outside a lot!

Just got back from the San Diego Whale Watching Cruise!
I went on the whale watching cruise last week with Flagship Cruises, and it was incredible! We saw so many gray whales and even a few dolphins. The crew was super knowledgeable and friendly. I recommend going in the morning for smaller crowds. The indoor seating was nice for taking a break, but don’t miss out on the outdoor deck! Just remember to bring a jacket because it gets windy!
Thinking of gifting the whale watching experience!
I'm considering gifting the San Diego Whale Watching Cruise to my parents for their anniversary. They love marine life! Has anyone done this recently? How was the experience? I want to make sure it’s worth it!
