Enjoy a small-group (15 guests maximum) deep dive into all things Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil! Led by a veteran journalist and long-time downtown Savannah resident, the two-hour tour provides the back-stories and up-close-and-personal insights into author John Berendt's book, director Clint Eastwood's movie of the same name, and the rich Savannah history surrounding them both. You'll stop at several sites where the story unfolds, including the Hamilton-Turner Inn, Clary’s Cafe, and Mercer-Williams House; you'll also get the scoop on the story's unique array of characters, from Jim Williams to Minerva to Joe Odom to Nancy Hillis to Moe Fetzer -- and everyone in between!

Q&A

Q: Can you reschedule if my friend can’t make it last minute?

A: Yes, you can typically reschedule, but it's best to contact Savannah Sidewalk Tours directly as soon as possible. They’re usually pretty accommodating, but last-minute changes might depend on availability. Make sure to check their policies on rescheduling just to be safe!

Q: What should I wear for this tour? Is it casual or more dressy?

A: Casual is definitely the way to go! Comfortable shoes are a must since you'll be walking quite a bit. Savannah can get warm, so light clothing is preferable. Just be sure to check the weather before your tour, as it can get humid!

Q: Is this tour suitable for kids? What age range is okay?

A: The tour is generally aimed at adults, but older kids who enjoy history or the book might find it interesting. There’s not a strict age limit, but I'd say it's best for ages 12 and up since the themes can be a bit mature. Just keep in mind it’s a walking tour!

Just went on the Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil Tour!

Hey everyone! I just got back from the Savannah Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil tour and wow, it was amazing! Our guide was super knowledgeable and shared so many behind-the-scenes stories about the book and the movie. We even got to see the Mercer-Williams House up close! It felt so personal since there were only 12 of us in the group. Highly recommend this for anyone who loves Savannah's history!

Considering the Midnight Tour as a gift – thoughts?

I’m thinking about getting the Midnight tour for my partner’s birthday. They’re a big fan of the book! Has anyone done this? What was your favorite part? I wanna make sure it's worth it!
