Q: Are there any age restrictions for the Science Under Sail adventure?

A: No specific age restrictions, but the experience is best suited for kids 8 and up, as they'll really get into the hands-on science activities. Younger kids are welcome too, but might need a bit more help. Just make sure they have an adult with them!

Q: What should we wear for the boat trip? Is it cold on the water?

A: It's best to dress in layers! Mornings can be chilly on the water, even in summer, so a light jacket is a good idea. Also, wear comfy shoes that you don't mind getting wet. And don’t forget sunscreen! Even if it’s cloudy, you can still get burned out there.

Just got back from the Science Under Sail trip in Camden, Maine!

Wow, what an experience! We sailed out of Rockland Harbor and had a chance to spot seals and porpoises. The onboard science educator was amazing—super knowledgeable! My kids loved the plankton tows and looking at everything under the microscope. The three hours flew by, and I couldn’t believe how much we learned. Definitely recommend it as a family outing or a unique gift for anyone interested in marine life!
